Aloha! My name is “Sonny” Thater born and raised in Hawaii, on the island of Oahu, in Kaneohe. I am a licensed outfitter and the owner/operator of Hook You Up Outfitters.
My love for the outdoors was inherited from my father who took me everywhere to fish and hunt since I was 7 years old. He took me to places on Oa’hu, Lana’i, Moloka’i, Kaua’i, Island of Hawai’I, Mexico and the Philippines. My father was patient, fearless, a competitive marksman and was very resourceful. He taught anyone who wanted to learn how to fish or hunt, and took them along in the field to experience firsthand what hunting and fishing was about. Pops showed them every step of the way, never judged anyone for their skill levels.
In 2004, my father passed away and left me with his most priceless collection of knowledge and love for the outdoors.
Growing up in Hawaii fishing and hunting was a lifestyle for our family. We never took more than we needed, and we took care of our a’ina (land) from mauka (mountain) to makai (ocean).
